Comforting Words

This is for Shannon. She was going through a tough time, and I finally got her to smile for me. Just in time for Christmas.

A joyful heart looks upon a broken friend
unable to really understand the pain
that she is blaming herself for
“things will get better”
I say

She cries
On my shoulder

“worry not of the past”

She doesn’t believe in herself.

“chin up sweetheart, think positive”

She doesn’t seem to be listening,
But finally,

I see her smile

And so do I
